Setup
How do I set up my Monai Baby Monitor?
Plug in your Monai monitor, download the Monai Baby app (iOS or Android), and tap "Add Device." Most families complete setup in under 5 minutes.
What's included in the box?
Camera unit, magnetic wall mount, USB-C power adapter, and a quick-start guide.
Where should I place the camera?
Mount the camera on the wall or place it on a dresser with a clear, unobstructed side-view of the crib. Aim for a position roughly 3-5 feet from the crib at chest height. Avoid pointing it toward a window or direct light source.
App
What devices are supported?
The Monai Baby app runs on iOS 15+ and Android 10+. One account can be used across multiple phones simultaneously.
Can multiple family members use the app?
Yes. Add up to 5 family members per account - everyone gets live video access and receives alerts simultaneously.
Do core features require a subscription?
Core monitoring, alerts, and live video are available without a mandatory monthly fee. Optional premium features like extended clip storage are available as an add-on.
WiFi & Connectivity
What WiFi does Monai need?
Monai connects to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi (WPA2/WPA3). A minimum 2 Mbps upload speed is recommended for smooth live video.
Does it work without internet?
Local monitoring and on-device AI analysis continue without internet. Push alerts and remote viewing require an active WiFi connection to your home network.
My camera keeps disconnecting - what should I do?
Make sure your camera is within good WiFi range. Try moving your router closer or using a WiFi extender. If the issue persists, reboot the camera by unplugging for 10 seconds, then reconnect in the app.
Alerts
How do I customize alert sensitivity?
In the app, go to Settings > Alerts. You can independently adjust sensitivity for crying, motion, and breathing to match your comfort level.
Why am I getting false alerts?
Try lowering sensitivity in Settings > Alerts. Ensure the camera has a clear view of the crib and isn't aimed at a fan, window, or moving object in the background.
Can I set quiet hours for alerts?
Yes. In Settings > Alerts > Schedule, set time windows when non-urgent notifications are muted. Breathing and critical alerts can be set to always notify.
Privacy & Data
Is my baby's video stored in the cloud?
No - by default. All AI analysis runs on-device. Video stays on your local network unless you explicitly enable cloud backup for event clips.
Does Monai sell my data?

Is the video feed encrypted?
Yes. All video streams use end-to-end AES-256 encryption. Remote viewing sessions are authenticated and protected via TLS.
